Obverse description A dhow under full sail occupies the centre-right of the note against an open lake vista, rendered in intaglio in shades of blue. A large guilloche medallion dominates the left side, flanked by ornate scrollwork at both lateral edges, with the denomination numeral '20' at upper right and lower left corners. Two facsimile signatures appear at lower right above the designations CHAIRMAN and SECRETARY FOR EAST AFRICAN CURRENCY BOARD.
