Obverse description The Imperial chrysanthemum mon is displayed prominently at the top of the field, serving as the imperial seal of authority. The vertical denomination inscription in kanji occupies the central field, flanked symmetrically on either side by two ho-oo (phoenix) figures facing inward. The Paulownia imperial crest appears at the base, itself flanked by curling karakusa (arabesque vine) sprigs. The overall composition reflects the formal decorative vocabulary of Meiji and Taishō-era Japanese coinage design.
