| Reverse description | Central field features a stylised traditional Brunei decorative motif in the form of a symmetrical interlaced floral and geometric design, reminiscent of indigenous Malay craft ornamentation, occupying the majority of the field. The circumferential legend KERAJAAN BRUNEI is disposed along the upper periphery, flanked by raised dot separators, with the date 1967 to the right and the denomination 20 SEN along the lower periphery, all within a raised rim. |

Brunei's 1967 coinage series, of which this is a part, was issued the same year the sultanate concluded its special treaty relationship with Britain — a transitional moment in which Brunei retained British protection while asserting greater internal autonomy. Omar Ali Saifuddin III had already abdicated in favor of his son Hassanal Bolkiah by October of that year, making issues bearing his name from 1967 among the last struck under his authority.
