Brunei's silver coinage of this period was struck almost entirely for collector sets rather than circulation — the sultanate's everyday commerce ran on the cupronickel equivalents, making the silver versions effectively ceremonial from the moment of issue. The Currency and Monetary Board produced these in limited proof and specimen formats, meaning uncirculated survivors are the norm rather than the exception.
