Obverse description Central design features a stylised bloom of the Hibiscus rosa-sinensis (Bunga Raya), Malaysia's national flower, rendered with five petals and a prominent central pistil. The denomination '20 SEN' appears in the field, flanking the floral motif, with the date inscribed below. The circular legend 'BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA' arcs around the upper periphery. Flower diameter and petal width vary across issue years, constituting recognised die varieties. The overall design is clean and boldly struck in a modern heraldic style.

Additional information

The Agong series ran across a remarkably long production window, surviving multiple Yang di-Pertuan Agong reigns without design revision — the coin's titular reference is to the office, not any individual ruler, which explains its unusual longevity as an uninterrupted type. Malaysia's constitutional monarchy rotates the supreme head of state among nine hereditary state rulers on five-year terms, meaning the issuing authority deliberately avoided portraiture that would necessitate frequent reissues.

KM#52 saw gradual die refinements across its production run, with earlier strikes from the Llantrisant facility differing subtly from later domestic production.
