Additional information

Emmanuel de Rohan-Polduc was elected Grand Master in 1775 and proved one of the most administratively capable leaders the Order had seen in generations — reorganizing its navy, reforming the legal code, and founding the Maltese public library. The KM#Pn8 designation identifies this as a pattern piece, meaning it never entered circulation; the 20 Scudi denomination in copper was almost certainly a struck trial to test the dies or gauge the viability of a higher-value copper coinage that was ultimately not pursued.

The Order lost Malta to Napoleon in 1798, just twenty years after this piece was struck.
