Obverse description Intaglio-engraved bust of Carl Auer Freiherr von Welsbach (1858–1929) to the right occupies the right half of the note, identified by the inscription 'AUER v. WELSBACH 1858–1929' below the portrait. To the left, the Austrian double-headed eagle arms is rendered in fine engraving, set within elaborate guilloche rosettes at each corner and along the borders. The denomination 'ZWANZIG SCHILLING' appears in large serif lettering at centre, with two facsimile signatures flanking the title 'PRÄSIDENT' above and 'GENERALRAT' and 'GENERALDIREKTOR' below, all against a multicolour guilloche underprint in red, blue and green.
