Obverse description The royal personal emblem of King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, rendered as a traditional Nepali yantra-style square mandala design with interlocking geometric compartments. Devanagari inscriptions naming the king are arranged within the segmented panels surrounding a central circle bearing the trident symbol. The Bikram Sambat date 2036 appears at the bottom of the mandala. A beaded border encircles the entire design.

Reverse description The official emblem of the International Year of the Child (1979) occupies the central field, depicting a stylized adult figure with arms raised protectively over a child, surrounded by leafy branches, with a rising sun above. A circular Devanagari legend reading 'अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय बाल वर्ष' (International Year of the Child) surrounds the design along the upper periphery, with the denomination '२० चाँदी रुपैयाँ' (20 Silver Rupees) inscribed along the lower portion. A beaded border frames the entire reverse.
