| Additional information |
The UN Decade for Women (1976–1985) generated a wave of commemorative issues from developing nations, many struck under IMF-adjacent monetary modernization programs. The Maldives Monetary Authority, established only in 1981, was barely three years old when this coin was authorized — one of its earliest commemorative outputs.
Mintage was low and primarily export-oriented, sold through international coin dealers rather than circulated domestically.
