The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Minsk is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the city, constructed in the early 17th century under the patronage of local nobleman Bogdan Statkevich. It survived Soviet-era demolition campaigns largely by being repurposed — at various points used as a warehouse and an archive — before being returned to the Orthodox Church following Belarusian independence. The pad-printing technique used on this issue allows photographic color reproduction directly onto the coin's surface, a method the National Bank of Belarus deployed extensively across its architectural commemorative series during this period.
