Reverse description The central design features a Virgin and Child image derived from Skaryna's 'Small Travel Book,' set against a panoramic view of sixteenth-century Vilna rendered in the manner of antique engravings from Georg Braun's Atlas. Decorative ornamental elements from the 'Small Travel Book' appear to the left and right of the central composition. The inscription ШЛЯХ СКАРЫНЫ (SKORINA'S WAY) arches in a circle around the upper portion of the field, while the toponym Вільня (Vilnius) is inscribed along the lower margin.

Additional information

Francisk Skorina printed the first book in the East Slavic world in Vilnius in 1522 — a Ruthenian-language Bible that predates the Muscovite printing tradition by decades. Belarus has issued multiple collector series tracing his journey across Central and Eastern Europe, this being one installment in a larger commemorative program rather than a standalone issue. The oxidized finish is deliberate, used across the series to evoke aged manuscript surfaces.
