| Obverse description | Black print on pale yellow-cream underprint. Central vignette shows the State Duma building with a domed roof, framed by an oval wreath of laurel branches. Above the vignette, the bold Cyrillic inscription ЗАЕМЪ СВОБОДЫ (Freedom Loan) in large display lettering; below the vignette, the denomination 5% ОБЛИГАЦІЯ В ДВАДЦАТЬ РУБЛЕЙ НАРИЦАТЕЛЬНЫХ (5% Bond of Twenty Roubles face value). Serial number and series designation appear in the upper corners. The lower portion carries a patriotic appeal text in Cyrillic followed by multiple ministerial manuscript signatures and the date Петроградъ, 27 марта 1917 года. |

Two manuscript signatures of the Государственная Комиссія Погашенія Долговъ (State Debt Redemption Commission) — Правляющій and Бухгалтеръ — appear in the lower section, above the notation Срокъ послѣдняго купона 16 марта 1922 года. |
