| Additional information |
Belarus established its customs service in 1920, shortly after the Soviet reorganization of the region following the Polish-Soviet War — a period when the country's borders were contested, redrawn, and barely functional. The centennial fell in a year when those same borders were under an entirely different kind of stress, as the disputed August 2020 presidential election triggered the largest protests in Belarusian history and sent Lukashenko's government into crisis mode. Commemorative coin programs continued uninterrupted regardless.
