Reverse description Central motif features the Portuguese royal arms — a crowned shield displaying the characteristic quinas (five escutcheons) and bordure of castles — set against a globus cruciger or armillary sphere background, rendered in moderate relief. The circumferential legend 'PECUNIA TOTUM CIRCUMIT ORBEM' ('Money goes around the whole world') surrounds the shield in Latin script. The legend is interrupted at the base by a small pellet or stop. The outer border consists of reeding, consistent with milled colonial copper coinage. The reverse surface shows characteristic circulation wear and patina consistent with a countermarked host coin.
