Reverse description The reverse of the original 80 Réis coin of Pedro I displays the denomination '80' within a wreath of floral and foliate decorations, with the date and mint mark appearing in the field. The full legend around the periphery reads PETRUS.I.D.G.CONST.IMP.ET.PERP.BRAS.DEF, identifying Peter I as Constitutional Emperor and Perpetual Defender of Brazil. A rectangular or oval countermark bearing the numeral '20' has been superimposed centrally over the original '80' denomination, officially reducing the face value as part of the Pedro II monetary reform. The date and mint letter (C for Cuiabá or G for Goiás) appear within or below the wreath.
