Obverse description Bare-headed effigy of King Carlos I of Portugal in right-facing profile, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curly hair and strong facial features. The truncation of the neck is clean and unadorned. A beaded border frames the entire design. The circular legend reads CARLOS I REI DE PORTUGAL along the upper arc, with the engraver's signature V. ALVES and the date 1903 positioned in the lower field beneath the portrait, flanked by decorative stops.
