| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of Queen Isabel II facing right, her hair elaborately dressed with curled ringlets gathered at the nape and adorned with a floral ornament, rendered in high relief with fine detail. The neck is bare and the truncation is plain. The circular legend reads ISABEL 2A. POR LA GRACIA DE DIOS Y LA CONSTITUCION, running from lower left to upper right around the periphery. The date 1850 appears in the lower exergual area, flanked by raised dots. The coin is bordered by a continuous dentilated rim. |

| Reverse description | Central device comprising the quartered Royal Arms of Spain, displaying castles of Castile and lions of León in the four quarters with the Bourbon fleur-de-lis escutcheon at centre, surmounted by the Royal Crown. The shield is flanked on the left by the denomination 20. and on the right by Rs., both in the field. The arms are encircled by a decorative wreath of laurel and floral sprigs tied with a ribbon bow at the base. The circular legend REINA DE LAS ESPAÑAS runs around the upper periphery, while the mint marks ·M· CL· appear in the lower field below the wreath. A dentilated border frames the entire design. |
