Obverse description Highly detailed proof portrait of an African leopard (Panthera pardus) in close-up frontal view, the animal depicted with mouth open in a snarl, revealing its teeth, with long whiskers radiating outward from the muzzle. The spotted coat is rendered with exceptional sculptural precision across the broad, powerful head. In the background, stylized acacia branches and silhouettes of birds in flight extend across the mirror-polished field. The legend SOUTH AFRICA arcs across the upper field, the date 2014 appears vertically along the left side, and the engraver's initials MJS are incused at the lower center.

Reverse description A prowling adult leopard is depicted in three-quarter view occupying the right and lower portion of the field, its powerful spotted body rendered in high sculptural relief against a polished background evoking rocky savanna terrain. To the left, a second leopard cub or juvenile is shown in animated upright posture. The series name NATURA curves boldly along the right side of the field in large relief lettering, while the denomination R20 appears prominently in the lower field. The fineness inscription 1/4 oz Au 999.9 is inscribed along the upper left, and the engraver's initials P.B. appear at lower left.
