Obverse description Central field bears the tughra or name inscription of Sultan Hussein Kamil in ornate Arabic calligraphy, with the accession date AH 1333 incorporated into the legend. The inscription is arranged in a formal, multi-line cartouche style typical of Egyptian sultanate coinage. A beaded border encircles the entire design. Note: All obverses of this issue bear the accession date digits ١٣٣٣ (AH 1333) regardless of the year of striking.

(Translation: Sultan Hussein Kamil 1333)
Reverse description Central field displays the large numeral '20' in Latin script flanked by the Arabic equivalent '٢٠' (twenty), with 'PIASTRES' inscribed below in Latin letters and 'قرشا' (qirsha) in Arabic to the right. The entire central motif is encircled by an open wreath of palm fronds tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The Arabic inscription 'السلطانة المصرية' (Egyptian Sultanate) curves across the upper field. The Western year '1917' appears at the lower left of the exergue and the Hijri year '١٣٣٥' at the lower right, with the Heaton mint mark 'H' between them. A continuous beaded border frames the design.
