Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate calligraphic tughra of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, rendered in bold relief with characteristic sweeping upward strokes and interlaced loops. A floral spray with buds and leaves occupies the upper right field, serving as a decorative mint emblem. The Arabic denomination '٢٠ ش' (20 Qirsh) is inscribed below the tughra at the base of the design. The entire device is set within a plain field, bordered by a continuous beaded rim.
