Additional information

Issued to mark the 25th anniversary of Albania's liberation from Nazi occupation in November 1944, this coin was part of a commemorative aluminum series released under Enver Hoxha's isolationist regime — by 1969, Albania had already broken with the Soviet Union and was deepening its alignment with Maoist China. Domestic metal production was a point of ideological pride; aluminum output from the Rubik complex was explicitly promoted as proof of socialist self-sufficiency.
