German consumer cooperative notgeld from the inflationary surge of 1920, issued when small-denomination coinage had effectively disappeared from circulation and private associations, municipalities, and cooperatives were left to fill the gap themselves. The Konsum- und Produktions-Verein at Frankenhausen am Kyffhäuser was a workers' consumer cooperative — the "e.G.m.b.H." designation marks it as a registered cooperative with limited liability — meaning this scrip would have circulated almost exclusively among members and at cooperative-affiliated shops rather than in general trade.
The handstamp authentication is the only security feature, which was typical for hastily produced cooperative issues and left them vulnerable to copying — though the limited acceptance network made forgery barely worth the effort.
