Reverse description An outer beaded border follows the octagonal periphery, enclosing a circular legend in raised Latin lettering reading KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE around the upper arc, with three small six-pointed star ornaments spaced along the lower arc. Within, a rope-twisted raised circle frames the large numeral '20' prominently centered in the field, affirming the token's role as a small-change substitute.

Additional information

The Westfälisch-Anhaltische Sprengstoff AG was one of Germany's principal explosives manufacturers, operating during a period when private industrial firms routinely issued their own emergency coinage — Werksgeld or Lagergeld — to manage wages and canteen transactions within closed factory communities. Zinc was the obvious wartime choice: copper and nickel had long since been diverted to the war effort.

The Hasselmann and Menzel references place this firmly within the documented Notgeld industrial token corpus.
