| Obverse description | Octagonal zinc notgeld token with a continuous pearl border following the eight-sided periphery. A circular rope or beaded inner border encloses the central field, within which the bold numeral '20' is prominently struck. Surrounding the inner border, a circular legend reads 'PH. BENJ. RIBOT' at the top and 'SCHWABACH KGL. BAYER. HOFSEIFENFABRIK' around the lower portion, separated by a star ornament at each side. |

Ph. Benjamin Ribot's soap factory in Schwabach held the rare designation of Königlich Bayerische Hoflieferant — official purveyor to the Royal Bavarian court — a title that carried genuine commercial prestige and almost certainly helped justify the issuance of branded trade tokens like this one. Private zinc tokens of this type circulated as in-store credit or promotional tender during the late Imperial German period, when small-denomination coin shortages made such instruments practically useful rather than merely promotional.
