Obverse description Printed in dark brown on smooth blue-green paper, the obverse carries the issuer name 'Stadt Kempen-Rhein' in large Gothic blackletter script across the top, with the denomination '20 Pfennig' in bold display type flanked by numeral '20' on each side. A lower text panel in small letterpress script contains the redemption conditions and bears the date 9.3.20 with a facsimile mayoral signature; small floral vignettes appear in the lower left and right corners, and a handwritten serial number is inscribed below centre.

Reverse description Printed in red, gray, and black on blue-green paper, the reverse is centred on a letterpress vignette of the Gymnasium Thomaeum, the historic school building of Kempen, rendered in fine line work.
