Obverse description The national coat of arms of El Salvador, centrally positioned, displays a volcanic landscape within a triangular shield encircled by a wreath of laurel branches, surmounted by a Phrygian cap radiating rays of light. Flanking the shield are five national flags and two columns, with crossed cannons and rifles below. The circular legend REPUBLICA DEL SALVADOR arcs across the upper field, while the fineness 900, mint mark C.A.M., and date 1892 are distributed along the lower exergue.

Reverse description A laureate bust of Liberty facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair gathered and pinned at the nape, wearing a classical draped garment fastened at the shoulder. A wreath of laurel leaves adorns the head. The legend AMERICA CENTRAL is divided across the left and right fields in two vertical arcs flanking the effigy, while the denomination 20 PESOS appears prominently along the lower rim.
