Obverse description The obverse is printed in black on white paper with a guilloche border of repeated numeral '20' forming the frame. A central vignette presents an ox-cart scene on the Argentine pampas, with cattle and a covered wagon in an open landscape. To the lower left, an allegorical female figure with classical attributes sits beside a cornucopia, while to the lower right an oval portrait vignette shows a young male figure in contemporary dress; the bank title 'EL BANCO DE LA PROVINCIA DE BUENOS AIRES' arches across the top, with the date '1º Enero de 1869' and the denomination 'VEINTE PESOS FUERTES' inscribed in bold letterpress across the centre.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in brown and displays an elaborate lathe-work composition centred on a large diamond-shaped guilloche panel bearing the inscription 'VEINTE PESOS FUERTES' in bold serif lettering. The panel is surrounded by eight ornate rosette medallions arranged symmetrically at the corners and mid-points of the design, all executed in fine engine-turned engraving with no pictorial imagery, giving the reverse a purely ornamental geometric character.
