| Obverse description | The Mexican national coat of arms occupies the copper-nickel centre, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched on a prickly pear cactus growing from a rock in a lake, devouring a serpent in its beak and talons. The design is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the plumage and cactus pads. The national legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS curves along the upper portion of the brass outer ring, while a tied wreath composed of oak branches at left and laurel branches at right adorns the lower portion of the ring. |
