Obverse description	The obverse is printed in dark olive-green and black intaglio. At left, a large allegorical vignette shows a reclining female figure in a pastoral landscape with cattle in the background; at center, an oval guilloche frame encloses the coat of arms of Honduras, with the denomination numeral 20 below; at right, an industrial vignette depicts a workman at a printing press or mechanical apparatus. The heading reads BANCO Centro-Americano across the top, with the promise text PAGARÉ AL PORTADOR en Moneda Efectiva Veinte Pesos, place and date República de Honduras, Tegucigalpa, Noviembre 30 de 1888 in the lower central field. The word SPECIMEN is overprinted twice in red, and serial number No. 00000 appears at lower right.

Reverse description	The reverse is printed entirely in dark olive-green intaglio on plain paper, with a symmetrical layout composed of dense lathe-work guilloche borders. Two square panels at left and right each bear the numeral 20 within an ornate lozenge guilloche frame. At center, a large oval medallion carries the inscription BANCO CENTRO-AMERICANO in two lines, surrounded by engine-turned scroll work. The place name TEGUCIGALPA appears in the upper border and VEINTE PESOS in the lower border. The printer's imprint AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY, NEW YORK runs along the bottom margin.
