Obverse description Black intaglio print on blue guilloche underprint. The Colombian Coat of Arms appears as a vignette at left, flanked by a central scene of laborers unloading bales from a horse-drawn cart, with an engraved portrait of General Antonio Nariño at right. The issuing bank title and promise-to-pay legend are set within an ornate typographic layout, with the printer's imprint of American Bank Note Co., New York, at the lower margin.

Reverse description Printed entirely in blue, the reverse is dominated by an intricate guilloche border framing two large denomination numeral "20" medallions at left and right, each set within a lace-like rosette. The issuing bank name is inscribed in two lines across the central panel, above and below a signature panel bearing the rubric of the Cajero (cashier), with the printer's imprint "American Bank Note Company, New York" at the lower margin.
