Additional information

Gibraltar's "Occupation" 20 pence series commemorates the wartime period from 1940 to 1944, when the civilian population was evacuated — forcibly in many cases — to Britain, Jamaica, and Madeira to allow full militarization of the Rock. Many evacuees spent years in temporary camps and billets, with families split across multiple countries, and a significant number never returned.
