| Reverse description | The reverse depicts the façade of the Dom Pedro V Theatre, one of the earliest Western-style theatres in China, situated on St. Augustine's Square in Macau. The neoclassical architectural elevation is rendered in precise detail, showcasing the pilasters, pediment, and main façade as renovated in 1873. Originally constructed in 1860 by the local Portuguese community in honour of their reigning monarch, King Peter V of Portugal, the building represents a significant example of European colonial architecture in the region. The bilingual legend 'DOM PEDRO V THEATRE - TEATRO D. PEDRO V' appears as the primary inscription, with accompanying Chinese characters in traditional regular script. The architectural rendering occupies the majority of the central field. |
