| Reverse description | The reverse presents a detailed high-relief rendering of the Church of St. Joseph's Seminary, a celebrated example of Baroque ecclesiastical architecture in Macao. The composition adopts a dramatic low-angle, bottom-up perspective, drawing the viewer's gaze up a broad flight of stairs to the ornate facade, which is crowned by a curved pediment bearing an elaborate Jesuit insignia (IHS monogram) at its centre. Two symmetrical bell towers flank the upper storey of the facade. The surrounding legend identifies the structure in both English and Portuguese, while the fineness and weight designations appear in the lower field. |
