Banco da China, Sucursal de Macau issued this 20 Patacas note to mark the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics — one of three Macanese commemorative issues tied to the Games, the others coming from Banco Nacional Ultramarino and the AMCM. China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation handled production, as it does for virtually all mainland-adjacent commemorative issues of this type. The series was released into circulation in late 2021, ahead of the February 2022 opening ceremony.
Pick W128 is notable for being among the very few Macau issues printed exclusively on cotton paper without polymer elements — a deliberate choice for the commemorative run rather than a technical limitation.
