| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the elaborately rendered tughra of Sultan Selim III, executed in the ornate Ottoman calligraphic style with characteristic interlaced loops, vertical shafts (tuğ), and sweeping horizontal baseline. A small decorative mint or control mark appears to the upper right of the tughra. The coin's rim is plain, and the flat field surrounding the tughra shows the characteristic granular surface of billon coinage struck at the Cairo mint. |
