Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra of Sultan Mahmud II, executed in the characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style with sweeping upward strokes and interlaced loops. The mint name and AH date 1223 appear below the tughra in Arabic script. A decorative sprig is positioned beside the tughra, serving as a distinguishing variety marker for this type B issue. The entire design is contained within a beaded border, the flan being irregular and slightly uneven as characteristic of hammered provincial coinage.

Reverse description Reverse bears a multi-line Ottoman Arabic inscription divided into compartments, presenting the full imperial titulature of Sultan Mahmud II. The legend reads 'Sultan of the Two Lands and Khan of the Two Seas, the Sultan son of the Sultan,' with the regnal year 15 inscribed within the field. The text is arranged in a formal panel composition typical of Ottoman provincial coinage of the early 19th century, enclosed within a beaded border consistent with the obverse.
