Obverse description Facing helmeted and cuirassed bust of Emperor Justinian I, depicted in a frontal military effigy characteristic of Byzantine imperial coinage. The emperor holds a globus cruciger in his right hand, symbolizing Christian dominion over the world, while his left arm supports a large decorated shield. A cross appears in the right field. The surrounding Latin legend identifies the emperor as perpetual augustus. The style reflects the bold, schematic portraiture typical of Carthaginian mint production under Justinian.

Reverse description Central denomination mark K (Greek numeral for 20, denoting 20 nummi) prominently displayed in the field, flanked on either side by the regnal year formula ANNO and the corresponding numeral arranged vertically. A cross appears above the K in the upper field. The officina letter S (Secunda, second workshop) is placed beneath the K. The mint signature CAR, identifying the Carthage mint in North Africa, occupies the exergue. The layout follows the standard Byzantine half-follis reverse format established under Justinian I.
