The eagle is surmounted by the Imperial crown, and ornate foliate mantling flanks the lower portion of the design. The circumferential legend DEUTSCHES REICH with the date 1893 runs around the upper field, while the denomination 20 MARK appears in the lower exergual area, flanked by small six-pointed stars, all within a beaded border.
