| Obverse description | Printed in green on cream paper, the obverse carries a satirical allegorical vignette in the centre — titled 'Steuerfabrik' (Tax Factory) — in which a devil-like figure operates a press wringing money from cowering citizens, with scattered banknotes on the floor. The denomination '20 Mark' appears in large script within rectangular panels at left and right, framed by a decorative border with zigzag and foliate ornament. Multi-line cautionary verses in Fraktur script fill the upper portion of the note, and the issuance statement, date, and magistrate signatures occupy the lower register. |

| Reverse description | The reverse, printed in green on cream paper, centres on a vignette of a Gothic church and associated buildings reflected on the Rhine, with a small sailing vessel in the foreground, all enclosed within an arched frame. The town arms — a shield bearing an anchor — appear in decorative cartouches at left and right, each flanked by diamond-shaped panels inscribed 'Gut für 20 Mark'. The issuer's name 'Stadt Niederlahnstein' runs in bold Fraktur lettering across the lower margin, with the serial number printed in red at the top centre and the designer's signature 'W. GRAEB' at the lower right. |
