Obverse description The obverse is printed in green, red, and grey with a bold Art Deco geometric underprint of interlocking diamond and circular guilloche motifs filling the centre. The issuer name "Stadt Soest" is set in large green Gothic blackletter script across the upper field, flanked by the city arms in red at centre top. The denomination numerals "20" appear twice in large red figures within diamond vignettes, with the written value "Zwanzig Mark" below in Gothic script. The lower portion carries the redemption text citing the Stadthauptkasse Soest, the date "Soest, den 11. November 1922", the authority inscription "Der Magistrat", a manuscript signature, and a serial number preceded by series letter "B" at lower right.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in sepia-brown tones and carries a detailed architectural vignette of the Altes Jakobitor (Old Jacob's Gate) in Soest, rendered in a period engraving style with figures in the foreground and city walls extending to the right. Circular medallions in the upper left and right corners each contain the numeral "20" in interlocked guilloche design. A caption title "Altes Jakobitor" appears at the top centre, while a lower-panel quotation in Gothic script references the literary figure of Simplicissimus by Grimmelshausen, recalling a scene set at Sankt Jakobs Pforte zu Soest around 1640.
