The central vignette shows an industrial panorama of the Saar region — a river barge with smoking funnels to the left and steel-works with mine headframes to the right — against a dramatic sky, all in dark tonal printing. Centred over the vignette is the circular seal of the Handelskammer Saarbrücken bearing a caduceus with spread wings, and below the vignette runs the bold inscription 'GUTSCHEIN über ZWANZIG MARK' in large Roman capitals.
