Reverse description Dark green letterpress on cream paper, with the same typographic layout as the obverse but without signatures or serial number. The denomination 'Zwanzig Mark' in blackletter Gothic script dominates the upper portion, flanked by two square vignettes bearing the Aschersleben municipal seal. A large lightly-printed numeral '20' watermark-style underprint occupies the centre field, below which a block of Gothic-script text sets out the redemption conditions. A red 'Eingezogen' cancellation stamp is applied diagonally across the lower centre.

Aschersleben's municipal authority issued this 20 Mark Notgeld in 1918 under the emergency currency provisions that allowed German cities and towns to fill the coin vacuum created by wartime metal requisitions. H.C. Bestehorn was a local printing and publishing house based in Aschersleben itself — one of the relatively few cases where the issuing municipality and the printer were genuinely the same town, cutting out the larger commercial printers in Leipzig or Berlin that handled most provincial Notgeld contracts.

The DeNG 3#023.03 reference places this within the third category of the Deutsches Notgeld corpus — municipal paper of this type was officially demonetized following stabilization efforts in 1919, though redemption compliance varied considerably by issuer.
