| Obverse description | Central field features two ancient Troy-style ceramic vessels rendered in high relief, their decorative spiral and geometric motifs clearly delineated against a mirror-polished background. Turkey's "Troya" series, issued by Darphane, commemorates the archaeological site of Hisarlık — identified by Heinrich Schliemann's controversial 1871–73 excavations as Homer's Troy. UNESCO designated Troy a World Heritage Site in 1998, and the Turkish government has consistently used the site in cultural diplomacy, particularly ahead of 2018, when it was declared the "Year of Troy" in Turkey, timed to mark the 20th anniversary of that UNESCO inscription.
The series draws on a genuine point of national pride: Troy IX, the Roman-era stratum, sits directly beneath centuries of accumulated history, nine distinct settlement layers deep.
