| Reverse description | Portrait bust of Sultan Selim II (r. 1566–1574), the eleventh Ottoman Sultan, depicted facing slightly to the left in the manner of a classical Ottoman miniature portrait. The Sultan wears an elaborate multi-tiered Ottoman turban (kavuk) and richly ornamented kaftan with intricate floral arabesque embroidery rendered in fine relief. A stylized tulip motif appears to the left of the effigy, referencing the Ottoman artistic tradition. The legend OSMANLI PADİŞAHLARI arcs along the upper border, while the regnal dates and name 1524-1574 II.SELİM curve along the lower border within the raised rim. |
