| Reverse description | The field is divided into contrasting mirror-polished and matte proof surfaces, creating a striking visual interplay of light and shadow. To the upper left, the date '15 TEMMUZ' is inscribed in bold relief, while to the right the commemorative legend 'ŞEHİTLERİ VE GAZİLERİ ANISINA' appears in three lines. A Turkish national flag bearing the crescent and star is depicted at the top centre of the design. The lower portion of the field is filled with a scattering of five-pointed stars of varying sizes, symbolising the martyrs of 15 July, and a border of individual stars encircles the entire reverse. |

Issued within months of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt, in which a faction of the Turkish military moved against the Erdoğan government and was repelled largely by civilian crowds flooding the streets and military bridges. Roughly 250 people were killed that night. The Turkish state moved quickly to memorialize the date, and this coin is part of that effort — one of the fastest turnarounds from historical event to commemorative issue in recent Turkish minting history.
