Anadolu Agency was founded in April 1920, just months before the Turkish Grand National Assembly formally declared the Republic — making it older than the state it serves. Established by Mustafa Kemal himself as a propaganda and communications tool during the War of Independence, it was the first institution to broadcast news of Turkish military victories to a domestic audience starved of reliable information under Allied occupation.
The centennial issue marks exactly one hundred years of continuous operation.
