Obverse description The Bulgarian state coat of arms is centered at the top of the note, flanked on both sides by the denomination numeral 20 in ornate cartouches. The face is dominated by an elaborate guilloche underprint with a dense geometric border pattern, with the bank name in large Cyrillic letters across the center field. Two serial numbers appear in red at upper left and upper right, with two manuscript signatures — those of the Governor and Cashier — at the lower center.
Obverse lettering Двадесет Лева Българската Народна Банка Плаща Предявителю София 1922
(Translation: Twenty Leva The Bulgarian National Bank Pays the Bearer Sofia 1922)
Reverse description A central vignette portrays a woman reaper carrying a sheaf of wheat slung across her shoulder, set against a background of other reapers at work in a field. The scene is framed within an intricate geometric guilloche border. The denomination and issuing bank name appear in both Cyrillic and French lettering, with a legal warning regarding forgery printed below the central vignette.
