| Obverse description | Central device depicts the historic helmet of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg — the celebrated Albanian national hero — surmounted by a goat-head crest, crossed diagonally by a long sword, the entire composition set within a wreath of oak branches tied with a ribbon at the base. Three five-pointed stars are placed at the left, right, and bottom of the inner field. The bilingual legend SHQIPËRI ALBANIA arcs across the upper portion of the field in raised Latin letters, while the commemorative dates 1468 and 1968, marking the 500th anniversary of Skanderbeg's death, appear at lower left and lower right respectively, all within a beaded border. |
