| Obverse description | Bare-headed, bearded right-facing effigy of King Oscar II, engraved in high relief with finely detailed hair and full beard after the style of Lea Ahlborn. The portrait is positioned centrally, truncated at the neck, and occupies the greater part of the field. A continuous circular legend surrounds the effigy, divided by two six-pointed stars at the lower left and right. A toothed border frames the entire obverse. |

| Reverse description | The Norwegian royal coat of arms — a crowned shield bearing a rampant lion holding an axe — is centrally displayed and flanked on both sides by symmetrical oak-leaf branches tied at the base, forming a wreath open at the top. The denomination '20 KRONER' curves along the upper legend, while the date appears in the lower exergual area below the wreath. Mintage control inscriptions appear to the left and right within the wreath. A toothed border frames the entire reverse. |
