The Nólsoyar Páll lighthouse on the Faroese island of Nólsoy was built in 1893 and remains one of the most isolated staffed light stations in the North Atlantic. This coin is part of Denmark's long-running lighthouse series for the 20 krone denomination, which began in 1995 and drew consistent collector interest by documenting structures that most Danes had never seen and never would. The Faroese inclusion was a deliberate acknowledgment of the territories under the Danish crown rather than the kingdom proper.
